i apologize for the other threads i made before, but i just realized it is a software problem not a hardware one. i have a brand new WD SATA cavier 250gig hd , so i doubt it's the hd..

pretty much, i think there's a virus or corruption of windows that causes my hd to spin weird (makes the sound of it turning on, like a single click, freezes for 3 sec) and there's a cpu spike at this point. this happens when i click away from the start menu, or access any menu option such as "file" in any program.

anyone have the same problem before?

Is the disk running in UDMA mode?? Also try updating the videocard and chipset drivers
