All of my VMs in VirtualBox have internet through the host machine, and it's working just fine. What I'm trying to do is set up a private virtual network connection between the VM and the host machine. I'm experimenting with a VM as a test server, and I only want it interact with my main computer as a client.

I checked through the documentation, and I'm still not sure where to start.

how is the networking setup?
I haven't used VirtualBox, but I know in VMWare Workstation you can change the networking type to bridged to the physical NIC, or NAT'ed through the local machine.
