Is there any way to lock the screen resolution of a Guest VM to a specific size without it auto adjusting?
Here is the scenario as to what I'm getting at:
Right now I have a Guest Windows XP machine running at a 1280x1024 resolution on my native 2048x1152 monitor (It is taking up a little more then half the screen). Cool right? Yes, except I'm having trouble running an application that runs a 800x600 resolution in full screen mode (to the client 1280x1024). What is happening is the VM will adjust automatically (shrink) to the 800x600 size leaving a tiny box on my monitor. Boy, is that hard to see. There seems to be no 'Locking' of the Guest screen at 1280x1024 while enlarging the 800x600 resolution program (I realize the image will become blurry and pixilated, but that is fine).
I'm using VirtualBox 3.0.4 with the GuestAddons installed. Also I've tried to use full screen mode in hopes of 'tricking' the program to bloat/stretch all over my screen. These attempts have failed leaving me with a little 800x600 centered program with large spaces of black on the edges.
Of course when I close the program it will readjust and fill my monitor back to its inital setting (That I've chosen) of 1280x1024. Unfortunately there isn't an option of increasing the resolution of the program, so that option gets ruled out.
Any solutions to locking the Guest VM resolution? Or am I SOL?
