I remember those things when I was a kid, wanted one so bad but all I could afford was crappy ESS sound cards.
 
Ironically, this is an ESS based card. :p But, ESS emulation of the Sound Blaster and Adlib standards is excellent. See Phil's review of the ESS Audiodrive chip:
 
Depends on which ESS chip was used. The ES1869 was a more common chip and sounded horrible in DOS.
