Vinyl Disc Burner

Are there any? I'd like to burn some of songs on vinyls, so I can scratch and play underground music.

That's a complete different method of "inscribing" the data onto the disc.

Records are cut or pressed, not burned. I guess you could burn them if you had a precision laser and enough free time.

You will need a VRX 2000 or the Kingston Dub plate, or something similar.

Or you can pay somebody to do it, like Acme, United or Record Pressing.com.

Actually both. The master is cut on a very expensive lathe, then that "master" is plated and used to make the pressing disks.

....among the other interesting life experiences I've had, I built recording studios for a living for a few years in the pre-digital days. Nothing like a Studer A800 open reel 24 track studio machine pulling 2" wide Scotch 250 tape at 30 inches per second..... A lot of folks still like their sound best of all.

there is something called Final Scratch that would be a better idea, and probably a lot cheaper.

it will run you ab out $1000 for that setup, then you of course would still need 2 turntables.

I have seen this used live before and its does live up to the hype

Deviationer, have you ever seen a real DJ work? They use vinyl. Do you know how much music ISN'T available on vinyl?

edit: that final scratch looks pretty cool, gets digital inputs for a real turntable an record. Anything w/o a real turntable would confuse most DJs, and I wouldn't think produce the right sounds... interesting.

There are some bands that release primarily on vinyl (read: some hip-hop, lotsa indie bands, lotsa hardcore bands, lotsa emo* bands) and there are still tons of people who have record players/listen to vinyl. While FinalScratch would be good for a DJ, if you want to actually release music (i.e. sell it to people) and you want to do so on vinyl, then you either have to make your own vinyl or get someone to do it for you.

it is first etched "live" onto a hard was plate (thats why its commonly called wax in the dj community).. this is the master plate
you then make a mold of it and use a hard plastic to create clones

if you are looking into a machine that will allow you to etch your own.. its gonna cost a ton and the records will have a short life.

best bet is to 1: get a final scratch that interfaces with your computer. or more commonly just get a GOOD (gonna be $600-1000) cd deck that allows you to scratch.
