[H]ey guys and gals,

I have reached a dilema. Cant decide whether to go with the dell 20 inch LCD now on sale. or the viewsonic VP912b.

The dell is 629 or something and the viewsonic is 700 clams on newegg.
Since the dell site doesnt even tell you the MS of that LCD iam guessing its in the mid 20's range?

What would be the use for one of these screens. Mostly web serfing and a lil' bit of gameing. I watch all of my DVDs on my TV through my TV OUT port.

So which one would be the wiser choice for me? I am leaning towards the dell right now, due to its nice price. BTW does any one know if the USB ports on the Dell LCD are 2.0 ?

T[H]nx for any feedback I can get. :)

While I'm not sure on the response time for the dell, I do know a lot of satisfied 2001fp users. You get a lower price (until Sunday) and an extra inch of viewable space. You really can't go wrong with either monitor--unless you're on a budget. With high quality monitors such as the two you're considering I usually let my wallet do the talking. Okay, now back to Spaceballs for me.

EDIT: I just read that you'll only be gaming a little and will mostly be surfing. From that info I'd definately reccommend the dell (with probably a higher response time) as the size and resolution will make you a happy camper.

The Dell response time is 16ms. Its a 20.1" screen.

I chose the 2001FP and mine ships either today or monday. Can't wait.

I also got the 2001FP because I got it for 450+ tax, new from Dell, and its an inch bigger. It seems to be the recommended gaming LCD of magazines, websites, etc.

howd you get it for 450!?!?!?!?
I must know!! I know that you can you can use that coupon code for 200. Bringing it down to 620 + tax. But 450 .....

yeah, but the VP912 is a 12ms lcd panel that's uber-good.
btw, i've got 'em for 650 or so.

cheers,

dave

What are the specs i should be looking for in a common LCD. Like i said, little bit of gameing, some anime/movie watching on the LCD, and web serfing.

I am guessing about 20ms should be fine?
What about nits?
Contrast Ratio ?
Dot Pitch?
Antiglare Coating ?
