here it is at newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-347&depa=1

Specifications:
Panel Type: TFT Active Matrix LCD

Contrast Ratio: 500 : 1
Response Time: 8 ms
View Angle: 160° / 160° (H / V)
Input Connectors: 15-pin D-sub, Digital DVI-D

I bought one already, because even if it is a 16ms panel, i still want it. I'm guessing the 8ms business is just a marketing gimick.. or is it?

How I see it...

There's no ghosting on 12ms or 16ms let alone 8ms. It's nice to see the technology improving. But in my opinion they should be working on viewing angles, and contrast ratio as well as perfecting the manufacturing process to eliminate backlight leakage and dead pixels. Not improving the response time, it's already good enough.

Ive owned the 710T which is 12ms which has very noticable ghosting

a guy in the anandtech forums said he liked the viewsonic more than his 710T, but someone else said they noticed no difference compared to a 16ms model..

who knows.

i posted this in the [H]otDeals forum too.. a user there named... emailed ViewSonic about upgrading his VP171B (16ms model)
they said:

"Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting ViewSonic Technical Support.

No the panel cannot be upgraded, the newer VP171B-2 is 8 ms, it was made that way straight from the factory.
