Big pannel, Good response, but no dvi and native res of only 1280x720 is the bad part. As video card tech gets better and better higher res gaming will be more and more possible. I suggest a pannel that gives you higher native res and dvi and if possible see if you can find one with hdcp.

Above is an interesting article about hdcp and how with vista you may not be able to video high def content without an hdcp monitor. This is espcially important because the new tech(BluRay & hddvd) will have high def content exclusively.

Thanks everyone for their opinion, I'm just gonna go ahead and get the 21" gateway monitor with hdcp. Monitor looks sweet.
 
Are you guys blind? That spec on newegg lists DVI as a connector, and a reviewer says he's using DVI. One of the pictures even shows it next to the vga. How do you miss all three?
 
^^^ I agree, also on the Amazon tech specs it says it DOES have HDCP...all the more impressive.

the more specs I see the better it looks. The only thing is the resolution is a bit low. Depends on what the user wants. DVI HDCP and up to 1080i are nice features.

720p > 1080i...the interlacing is horibble for fast moving pics, Check the research out on the web. Mere resolution isnt everything if the monitor cant display all lines of resolution at a single point in time. however, 1080p > 720P.

This is something I never thought of but it makes perfect sense to me. There are some [H]ardcore people in this forum. AndoOKC1 Well said.

I love this TV

I have it from my HD cable as dvi, and it has HDCP on dvi.

However, analog can be better, and input selection is horrible

also I can run my laptop on it at 1280x800 with no probs and no distortion, on x800

The odd bit however is this
when in dvi, it says its running 1920x1080

does that make any sense ?

You are all wrong.

This monitor HAVE HDCP via the DVI input. My digital cable is connected via DVI an auto-detect HDCP on my display.

1280 X 720 is fine. I can see my desktop from a couple feets away and games don't look jaggy at all with 4xAA.

For the price, it's completely unbeatable.
 
I thought we all agreed before that it does have hdcp. We misread at first but that is clear already. However what was last said was that at 720p it looks better in fast moving applications like games as it's better to have something progressively scanned while moving fast vs having interlaced lines that aren't displayed all at once. I'm glad your enjoying your display but noone is debating whether it has hdcp anymore. It does, and I'm sure the picture is killer.
 
Hey exodia, hows the gateway monitor treatin you?? I'll probably end up getting that monitor instead of the viewsonic, i need to find some more reviews on the viewsonic. But any ghosting with the gateway?
 
The Gateway monitor is treating me well. I have a buddy who has the dell 2005 fpw and the gateway side by side (lucky son...) anyway he can't find the gateway in stores and wants to trade the dell 2005fpw +cash for my gateway to have 2 identical. I can't bring myself to do it despite how awasome the dell is, the gateway is just better to me. Also mine is backlight perfect and dead pixel free. As far as ghosting... 0 Ghosting none. I'ts like a humongous CRT practically. (dont take that too serious guys) What I mean is it's response is amazing, brightness, sharpness and the way it just wraps around you. Specwise it's a 2405fpw in 21 inches. Specs are similar but this gateway has 8ms instead of 12ms response for the dell. Both have the 1000:1 contrast ratio & the 16:10 asp ratio. Definitely Recomended highly by me.
