Videocard problems

i bought a plasma monitor and a videocard and ugraded a computer to run it.

my problem is that the videocard runs at a 4 by 3 resolution, and and the monitor is widescreen at 16 by 9.

is there any way to program it to work at this aspect ratio? i was looking through the settings, and there is a refresh rate that has the 16 X 9 ratio.

Any idea? im updating the drivers for the videocard, but i wanted to throw this at you guys to see if you had any ideas.
