i built my sister a computer with spare parts..abit IT7 MAX2, 1.8 p4, 256 pc2700 crucial ram, and an old ATI Rage Pro video card..

i have an old monitor too so i used that...installation of windows xp went fine, but then i ran into a problem, when it actually gets to desktop the monitor goes into standby mode...

so i want to make sure its not a monitor problem before i change video cards, so i hook it up to a diff monitor and it works fine..so then im confused...

im confused because i first built the computer, and it booted up fine, perfect, windows was fine, and it didnt' go into standby with the old monitor..then i formatted..and then the problem started..

so what settings could i be able to change to make the monitor work?
 
Hit F8 and go into VGA mode. Sounds like a driver issue. Install a newer driver from the ATI website from there.
