Video driver issue? Stutter while scrolling in firefox

I Wasnt quite sure where to post this. For the last few weeks ive been having scrolling issues and whatnot while using Firefox (latest version) and all my plugins are up to date as well. I have not changed anything since I got my 7970 opening day (using drivers on cd)

Also while watching youtube videos the video sometimes lags behind the audio and when i go back to previous video, it sometimes freezes and continues playing the audio.

Like i said nothing has changed that i know of. Fresh format on Jan 11 of this year.
 
first off, uninstall the drivers from the CD and get the latest drivers released by AMD, the ones on the cd are crap which is why they released a driver update on day one of the 7970 release. second make sure you have the hardware acceleration in FF disabled in the options(this is completely separate from flash and other programs). it doesn't really work and causes tons of issues.
 
Ive tried a few times installing the new drivers and i get BSOD and i have to restore afterwards cause my screen goes all funky colors. I will try turning off HWA. :)
 
unless you can remove the drivers you got with the CD completely, you need to reload windows to get the up to date drivers on (the ATI BSOD issue with trying to install up to date drivers)
 
do you have another hard drive you can throw your internet cache files on? unless you have firefox installed on your ssd, then it probably wont make a difference...

i had this same problem once and the hard drive i had my cache files on was going bad, causing me to get random stuttering/hanging/pausing of my system while browsing the net.
 
firefox can use the video card to render the page and it makes makes scrolling stutters if not done correctly (i have also seen AMD cool and quite do it as well, try turning off power saving, set the system to performance in control panel as that norm turns off CPU power management)
 
Well for now it seems turning off hardware acceleration fixed the problem :cool:
