Hello All,
I recently purchased a new computer from newegg:
Processor: Intel Core i7 950(3.06GHz) 64 bit Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Intel X58
Memory: 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 1333
Hard Drive: 1TB (1 x 1TB) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD
Optical Drive 1:24X DVD±R/±RW Dual Layer Drive
Graphics:ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB PCI-Express Graphics Card
Audio:Sound card - Integrated...i know, but it sounds awesome on my Bose speakers

I'm not tech savy by any means, when I first purchased the machine I couldn't get it to work, and was told the video card was bad. I went out to Best Buy and purchased another 5770 HD to only realize that the card worked, they shipped it without the power cord connected.
Ok now onto my problem...
A tech over at ALTEC(?) put both cards put into my machine a few days ago and that is when the problems started happening. I've only installed FO3 and BC2, the problems are only with BC2. I updated the drivers for the card and that other program for Xfire. The tech was convinenced it was a power supply issue (my new pc came with a 700 watt) so I went and upgrade to a 1,000 watt. Well, the issue happened again within a few hours to my dismay.
That caused me to look into the issue online and sure enough it appears to be a driver problem.
So the question is, is there a fix to this yet? I'm sort of pissed that I've spent money on an additional card and power supply for nothing.

PS: You didn't tell us the problem you are having.

Black screens in game and crashes to desktop while in game. It's not constant or any pattern.

If it only happens with BC2 then its almost certainly not a hardware fault.

Btw replacing the 700w power supply was silly, he obviously just wanted to sell you something. Next time talk to technicians who do not have a financial interest in you.
 
I'm taking back the additional video card and 1000watt power supply. Not worth the trouble. The computer runs super fast off one 5770HD card. Thanks

I actually switched out my powersupply and video card by myself. I'm far from handy so I'm proud of myself lol.

Seriously, you spent all that money on processor and 12 GB of ram, and you put a 5770 in it? I am stunned by that decision...
 
Nope. I got the system cheap on newegg and that's the video card that came with it.
 
sounds like the problem i was having with crossfire. what version of the drivers are you using? try installing 10.5a, it will make the problem go away in BC2, im almost sure of that. mine did the exact same thing on any driver after 10.5a (10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and didnt bother with 10.10.) it did it for every "hotfix" within that driver set too
 
I tried 10.5 after viewing the forums. 10.5 killed my load times and made the game run slow. Since i got rid of the other card it runs perfect. I'll probably get myself a new card for Xmas
