Okay I’ve been having some trouble with my system...

3D Mark 2003 has been crashing out say thing like can't find texture...

And while playing warcraft 3 I just received this message.

img1437crop0vq.jpg

These are my system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton 333MHz FSB
ABIT NF7-S2 Socket A
Rosewill 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400
Western Digital 120GB 7200 RPM (same drive as reference in a different post)
LITE-ON DVD Burner DVD+R 16X, CD-R 48X, DVD+R DL 4X
ASUS A9550GE/TD/128 Radeon 9550 128MB DDR

Is this my video ram taking a crap on me, or is this system ram

Okay I am still getting the Warcraft 3 error once I have been playing the game for about an hour

Also sometimes when I run 3DMark2003, it will give me this error xxxxx/xxxxx.xxx file is corrupted
If I restart it will go through the test fine, but then once it has been running for awhile I can get the same error.

It has also failed once on 3DMark2001 with a windows generated error.

I ran prime95 for 10 hours yesterday with no glitches, and memtest86 for 7 hours with no errors.

If I put my 9700Pro in I never get the either the WarCraft 3 error or the 3DMark2003 error.

I am guessing that I just have a bad/unstable card.

Should I just RMA it and hope for the best?

Please advice

Did u overclock it at all... try running a chkdsk and defrag. it could be an error on the drive.

it could be the RAM

i would say jes to be sure update all drivers that are important. IDE, Video, Mobo etc. i dont know if this HD is SATA but i would also suggest updating your bios i would start there. also is your PSU Sufficient? deficiencies in the PSU can cause some weird errors

the video card, the CPU and the memory are not overclocked at all.

the hard drive is 200GB ATA/100

have update to the latest bios, and running on a clean install of windows XP with SP2 installed.

the PSU is 530W enermax.

does this not seem like a video card error, is that what i am getting from peoples post?

Run the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostics. If the diags pass, I'd look at getting your video card RMA'd.

LOL its for a new system build for a friend, used the 9700Pro just for testing purposes to see if it was the video card and not the something else...

You said that it said it couldn't find a texture. Sounds to me like a texture file from the game is corrupted and/or not even there. It could also be the RAM as well...if the RAM is bad, it could have trouble storing textures and crash on you. I'd try re-installing the game to see what happens. Also, test out your RAM using memtest, or any other memory diagnostic program. You can find all sorts of things like that at http://www.majorgeeks.com.

EDIT: with that error message it sounds like one of two things...either a.)a file from the game is corrupted and when it's sent into memory and then fetched for use it cannot be seen or b.)the RAM is simply bad.

Read the thread...

He already tested with MemTest86. If texture files are being corrupted or missing, he needs to look into possible hard drive failure. Memory could cause these errors, but it tests fine...

I misworded somewhat....when I say that a texture is either missing or bad, I mean it's very possible that the HD is screwed up.....but other factors can play in as well. It's also good to try out a few memory testers. Gotta double check all the possibilities.....and yes, I read the thread, must've slipped my mind that he already used memtest.

Error isnt apparent with different video card.
Dosnt neccesarily mean the video card is bad, could mean its not playing nice with something else in there, either software or hardware.

Could this all go back to a bad motherboard?!?

That is the only thing that I really can't test, well that and the chip

I’ve swapped out hard drive because I thought it was bad, (was 120 WD, now 200 Seagate)
I've run memtest and on that system for a combined of more then 24hrs and prime95 for a combined time of 24hrs also
And can swapped in and out 3 video cards, the 9700pro the 9550, and a geforce2 32meg.

what I'm wondering is if the 9550 memeory could be bad and that where i'm getting that memory error from...

seems like a likely place, well that and the motherboard

I used to get the same exact error when I overclocked my cpu, which also overclocked my memory, so its one of those that your having a problem with. Try adding more voltage to your ram, or putting a divider to even 166mhz to see if u still have the same problem, if you don't then compensate until you get the best performance error free.

I get the same kind of error when I run AquaMark3. Makes it to the very very end, goes to calculate my score, and bam, desktop with a very similar error.

Only happens is AM3. Nothing else.

Don't know if this sheds any light on it, but there's a memory could not be read error known to happen with HL2. I was getting it. Ended up fixing it by eliminating my Windows swap file. If you have a bunch of RAM, like a Gig, it may be an option you can try. It's a solution I found on the support for HL2. Of course, you wouldn't want to try it if that game could potentially use more than a gig of Ram.
