Video card advice

I'm in the process of putting together a HP xw6200 WorkStation to be used as my desktop PC. This PC will mainly be used for internet browsing, torrent downloading, moving files between the PC and my WHS server in the basement and word processing tasks. I will also occasionally watch / stream music and videos, but will not be doing any gaming.

I have these 2 video cards that I'm considering using, but I have absolutely no experience with video cards. Both cards were given to me, I havent used either one. Is either one of these "better" than the other?? Are there pros / cons to either one?? I would think that they are pretty comparable, but figured that I'd post a thread here to get some [H] advice. Thanks in advance.

ATI 1950 XTX (??? looks like maybe. can't quite make out the sticker)

NVIDIA 8800 GTS

Either would be fine. I'd go Nvidia myself but I didn't have any first hand experience with this generation of cards so I'll let others provide more detailed answers.

Marginally more memory on the 8800gts and pretty much a wash on horsepower. IMO it comes down to drivers which usually favors NV.

Sorry, took these pics early this morning before work. Yep, it is an ATI 1950 XTX.

Both cards are in "Legacy" drivers at this point, but Nvidias are more recent. I'd go with the 8800.

Sounds good!!! Looks like it's the 8800!!!

Thanks for the responses.

One other quick thing ... what is this connection for?? I'm assuming that it's something simple, but again I'm not that familiar with video cards and the ATI card doesnt have one??
