I have a Q9550 C1

According to processorfinder.intel.com:

VID Voltage Range: 0.85V – 1.3625V

But according to CoreTemp 0.99.3

VID: 1.2500v

Any ideas as to why the discrepancy? Wondering because I am currently running at 1.25v and wanna make sure thats not the 'redline limit'

the first range of numbers is just that, a range. That's the range intel says that chip should be able to function properly in. So the 2nd number there is what intel is telling you the max recommended value is (still doesn't mean you can't get away w/ exceeding it a little bit). The number given by coretemp is basically the default value, and generally the one people are concered about if they're asking what your vid is.

VID is the default voltage that your specific chip requires to function. The voltage range that Intel gives is what the variance can be chip to chip. Meaning it's not going to be under 0.85V and not over 1.3625V to be in spec, every chip is different and so requires more or less voltage. Also, 45nm chips are "safe" to 1.4v, if you plan on OCing.
