VGA ramsinks or not?

I am so torn on what to do. I notice some pixel popping in Doom3 and it probably has something to do with the fire hot BGA ram on my Saphire Radeon 9700 pro. I have some old pentium100 heatsinks and a hack saw and I was going to cut it up and put them on the ram. I even already bought some nanotherm thermal epoxy. I am worried that it won't help because I haven't really heard or ramsinks helping at all and I don't want to have useless bits of aluminum permanently stuck to my baby.
Do you think that by adding some ramsinks it will make a difference with my card and help me possibly overclock (Doom3 tells me that it wants more Vram bandwidth).

if there fire hot as in you probably would burn yourself on it... heats pretty negligable unless its verry hot
 
Ramsinks will help, IF you have airflow around them. If there is no airflow, they are mostly useless.
 
Point of interest:

When the ambient temperature in my room is less than 16 degrees I can set my ram higher than when it is up in the 20s.


This is BGA ram on a FX 5900.
 
Yes, the ram on my video card is too hot to touch. Decent airflow around the ram chips also.

Then ram sinks would work very well for you, they may not give you more OC room, but if anything a peace of mind that they are running cooler and will last longer.
