My apologies if this is the incorrect area for the following question:

One end of my 15-pin male-to-male SVGA cable snapped a pin; a replacement has been ordered. Will a 14-pin male-to-male cable work in the interim?
 
It might work but your picture will probably have something wrong with it depending on what pin was broke.
