VFD Thinger Keeps freezing

VFD thinger 3.11 keeps freezing on me when I try to select my paralell port address 378H I can select all other address but when I select the one my port is assigned to it freezes and I have to close a non responding program. I'm using the Arkane1 IEE 03601-96 VFD 2X40 and I don't know of any other software that will drive this display. and yes I wired it right.
 
i also have this same 2 X 40 VFD display and cant get it to work with VFD thinger...what is DLPortIO for??
 
You need DLport io in 2000 and XP as windows does not allow direct commands through the paralell port due to security reasons. Does it freeze on you too? I tried all of my computers 3 N force2 1 Celeron system
 
you don't have to select a value you just install it. and it should work I think. I don't know though as I did not write either of those programs sorry I could not be of more help
 
Select Model -> 2 X 40 -> Arkane one -> IEE 03601-96 -> Apply -> your paralell port address usually 378 if you do that can you send me you settings file maybe it will allow mine to work as yours does not freeze when you apply the #378 port just do a [Code) Tag with the text from your setting file Thanks

Sorry I do not know any more about the program Good luck gettting it working as Im having a hard time also sorry :(
 
so there is no other program that this VFD will work with??Does yours show anything when you give it power?
 
No other program I know of. and when I give it power I get a flashing square
 
thats exactly what i get...i did find something interesting now though...when i goto my bios and choos EPP for my LPT settings VFD thinger freezes like you said but when i choose ECP it doesnt freeze but does nothing....
 
i got it working...All i did was went to my bios and changed the LPT settings to ECP and the I/O address to 278H
