can't seem to figure this out yet. mind boggling i tell you!
got 4 PCs on LAN.
today one computer decided to stop communicating. PC1's light on its onboard nic(nf7-s onboard nic) flashes orange. so i take the cord out of that machine, plug it into my machine, it works, solid lights i can surf the net, so the cable works, and the port on the router/switch works.
next i take an unused cable, plug it into PC1 to another hub i have, i get solid lights on hub and computer. its set to automatic, so it gets a 169 address eventually.. so the onboard NIC works, well with this hub anyway.
i also tried forcing PC1 to 10mbit half duplex, no go, forced to 100mbit full duplex(the router has built in 100/10 switch), but no go.
Also, i installed the nvidia chipset drivers again along with lan etc.., but that didn't help.
i wouldn't mind if the nic didn't work straight off, but it does work in another hub. but the router's port does work as well, since i tried it with another working computer.
any ideas? besides getting another nic, thats my last resort
edit: also you know the bubble that appears on the systray when network cable is unplugged? when i go to X that, it comes back after 1 second, as if its trying
