Very strange headphone problem.

I have been using a pair of dirt cheap headphones until I can get the Corsair 1500's in a month or so and just recently I have been having some weird problems. Things like "echoey" sound, very quite sound or no sound at all. However, when the headphone is jiggled or turned in the jack I can very rarely find a "sweet spot" where audio is normal. I am not surprised at all considering how cheap the headphones were, unreliability was to be expected. I was looking at the Realtek Audio Manager I clicked the auto test button which plays a sound for the left speaker and then the right speaker and it sounded perfectly normal! It was not affected by turning the headphones in jack at all. Why is this? Are my headphones still useless or is it a software problem? Many thanks in advance.

Phase? I asked a friend, he listened to the problem he said it wouldn't be that. Something to do with cancellation right? What exactly
would the problems be if the phase was wrong?
 
Sounds like its just the cable, It happens a lot with cheap stuff. Also Phase problems only happen with speakers exposed into the same volume of air, Headphones form chambers.
