vertex vs vertex 2

IMHO

If you are just a regular PC user on Win 7 doing a little of this and a little of that and a some gaming on the side, you will never ever never ever never ever evar...notice the difference.

I have built systems with both the Vertex 120 and the G2 160 and my lappy has the G2 80 with a weak chipset and there is no noticeable difference. My upstairs gaming comp has the Vertex and I am just as happy with that as the Intel.

They are effing fast. You will only know if you bench.

NOW...there are specific storage and retrieval scenarios that will highlight one drives capabilities over the other but if you have one of those scenarios, you proabably wouldn't be here asking the question, you would already know.

+1 hit the nail on the head

hmmm, ok i guess i will have to take your word for it. i do not really understand these things

What do you do with your computer? If you mainly just browse and play games, you won't notice a difference. If you encode media files, do a lot of archiving, or anything that deals with a lot of disk I/O, you may notice the difference, depending on your tasks.

Yah, but those are mostly large sequential reads, which are fast on both drives. The Vertex2 is only noticeably faster with small random writes/reads, IIRC.
