I got a new motherboard with SATA and thus a new SATA harddrive. Now at boot when it gets to Verifying DMI Pool Data...... it hangs. It gets past that point with an IDE hd or even with no harddrive. Anyone know what the problem is?

update: Ok, so i managed to format the drive and started installing windows, but the windows installation doesn't recognize the drive.... can someone help me, thanks.

If your trying to install Windows XP you need to hit F6 when it prompts you for other drivers. Then insert a floopy disk with the SATA drivers on it.

List you hardware and OS. Most likely someone here has the same combo and can walk you threw it.

Turns out my floppy drive didn't work. I've got it all up and running now.

I hate floopy disk drives to. I wish MS would just phase them out of the OS so we can do away with them. I know of no one that has a computer that doesn't have at least a cd-rom in it.

Glad to hear you get it up and running.
