I passed the VCP510 today. Was easier than I expected. Next up CCIE R&S written. I have to renew my CCNP by the end of the year so I figured now is the time to move forward with the CCIE.


I will say that I have taken many certification exams over the years, Cisco, Microsoft, Novell, ComTIA, etc... and this exam had, by far, the most atrocious grammar and spelling I have ever seen.
 
I don't think VCP test was bad. There were no trick questions like stupid MS tests.
 
I passed yesterday, but I didn't have the same experience. :)

I found it to be very challenging and it highlighted a ton of stuff that I don't know. Out of 85 questions, I'd say there were less than 10 or 15 that I was completely confident in my answer to. The majority were "choose 2 or 3 answers" and I'd be confident of 1 or 2 but not all. I wasn't sure if partial credit was given for those.

I didn't get as much preparation in as I'd have liked, but I had an expiring voucher and figured if nothing else, I'd get a practice run in. It's my first cert, which probably partially explains the difference in experience between me and someone going for CCIE level stuff.
 
I took a VMWare course which was 40 hours. Then I put in another good 90 hours memorizing stuff. I had about a year experience. Thank God I have a great memory.
 
is it possible to pass the exam then do the mandatory VMware training course to get the VCP510, or do you have to do it in the correct (logical) order?

Liquid - Yes, you can take the Exam / Course in any order, if you pass the Exam before taking the course then you can obviously sleep through it but it's still required.
 
Finally took the exam myself and passed.

Was kind of interesting because I had it scheduled for months ago, literally, but just kept rescheduling it because I really wanted to put in a bit of time to study the Enterprise Plus stuff that I just don't use. Then a couple of days ago I once again tried to reschedule and it said to me; no more rescheduling for you!

Good times. So I had to take it, passed with 433, definitely missed one of the distributed vSwitch questions. Then there was another multiple choice question in there where I was supposed to select what prevents something from happening and I swear that none of the choices would prevent the case asked about. Very bizarre.

Done and done though, won't let the VCP6 ez-renewal it lapse this time whenever it does come around. ;)
