I recently purchased three 6950 (powercolorx2/MSI). I unlocked them using the ASUS bios. I seem to have several issues even on stock bios. I run a very aggressive fan profile in afterburner. (temps never reach above 75C) so heat shouldn't be a issue.

1. When installed/uninstalled drivers, I lose video signal towards the end of the install. I can still hear windows running though, so its not a system lockup.

2. Random crashes in certain games example: Crysis 2 ran fine all the way threw... But when playing bad company 2 the screen locks after about 15 minutes of play. No warning no artifcating.

3. I also seem to be getting really low frames in certain games example: Metro 2033 maxed out DX11 only gives me average 25-30fps. Where I ran the game before and was able to score average 50-60fps.

I went ahead and test each individual card in both games and install/uninstall of 11.4 No issues detected

Unless I'm doing something wrong Just seem crossfire/trifire is very unstable IMHO
I just reinstalled my OS as a last ditch effort.. I'll have to see what the results are tonight...

Anyone else experience these or similar issues?
 
There are two remaining things to test:

Are all of your PCI-E slots working individually (may not be feasible to test each individually since some boards only boot with a card in the first slot)?

More likely, your PSU combination is not up to the task - maybe load distribution, maybe a faulty PSU. What happens if you run your CPU stock and repeat the Tri-Fire test?

well i got the OS/steam critial apps/updates finished last night,fired up BC2 for a minute no issues... booted up after work (today), instant driver failure, rebooted crossfire link loses connection... Ughh.. I'll try you suggestions maybe one of the slots are bad... You think the OC on my 920 might cause stability issues? I've been stable at 3.9 for least 6 months. Currently my load out on PSU is two cards on the 850 and the last on the 500.. Should be plenty enough juice.. I'll investigate further.. Thanks for the tips..

Did you try the cards in Crossfire before you unlocked them? I suspect one of your unlocked cards is failing. Even if it works fine solo, they can still fail in Crossfire. Set the cards back to stock, put the CPU at stock, and see what happens. If something fails then, run the cards in 2 card Crossfire to see which card has a problem with it.

Checked all 3 lanes.. boots fine.. no issues so far back on stock. I was getting WAY higher frames on metro 50-60 compared to 35-40 now... Crossfire pulls 25.. But Trifire pulls 35-40? Seem like a very small difference considered I'm throwing a whole other card in the mix. Afterburner shows all 3 cards in use though.... Hmmm

Strange thing is that I saw no gains in the 6970 bios vs stock..
 
No issues so far with stock, I dumped by Asus Bios for a (shader only) unlock.. No issues detected so far. But I did notice that under CCC crossfire settings only seem to display the info for two cards (16/20) instead of three. And crossfire only shows the info for one card. Could any crossfire users comment.

P.S. I wouldn't recommend the ASUS bios for you 6950 flashes.
 
Like was said above, it could be a power supply issue. But what sticks out is that you had flashed them to a 6970 bios to begin with. One of the cards could've started going out, like was also said earlier. Flashing to a unlocked 6950 bios now would make no difference if the damage has already been done.

Revert everything back to stock and start testing. Do each card individually and in crossfire. Probably back down the cpu overclock too.
