I have a black Enermax case. On the side with no window, there are 2 Marines stickers and 1 National Guard stickers. On my monitor is one of those things that sticks on windows (that I actually just taped on, but it looks nice). Here is my idea to take this mod all the way:


1. New 12x12 window (this one is that flower cut currently, the new one will be a perfect square). It will have a yellow tint, symbolizing the gold color of the Marine Corps.

2. Red cold cathodes inside, so when you see through the yellow tinted window, you see the crimson color of the Marine Corps.

3 (maybe). I want to dremel out the side of the other case with the USMC EGA (Eagle, Globe and Anchor symbol). This would take tons of time and since I have to experience with cutting metal with any tools, I would want to get it professionally done.

If you could please redirect me to that guy that does professional case modding (I forgot his web site), I would greatly appreciate it. Tell me what you think of my idea.
 
As a former Marine I have to say I love the idea. Only thing that I don't know about is the red cathode behind the yellow tinted plexi; it might come out as more of an orange. But I still say the concept is good to go.
 
thanks guys. I think I am going to go through with this one. About the window.... I still need to get the 2 colors (preferably gold and a crimson type red) in there. If I found gold wire sleeving, then red cold cathodes, that might work out better. any ideas?

maybe if i want to take it even further i will just hack the other side off where the stickers are and put in a good old EGA. Semper Fi!

The Army has come out with their own recruiting tool for gamers, America's Army. If I could just a get a sponsorship through the Marine Corps and take this baby to large LAN events and hand out brochures and whatnot, they would fund me... damn, that would be nice...

They have gold and red wire sleeving. And a gold PSU

Then you could have the interior of the case painted gold at a body shop. Finish off with a red exterior, and you very well might have it.
 
i did not see gold wire sleeving there. I saw it in peices but i dont know how long they are and how to get their discounts with ft....
 
Good idea, another Former active duty Marine here and I have thought of it myself just never had the time to do something like that (and do the Corps justice.) Have at it and make sure to post pics.

Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it be possible to etch the window in such a way that you have the globe and anchor in gold and then back light it in red?
 
thats a good idea.... easier than hacking out the side.... but i dont know whe're im going to find something like that =\
