Using WASAPI and balancing music

I just started using wasapi on windows 8.1 and I set the balance a little off center in sound control panel but this program I am using called Winyl doesn't respect that balance.

When I use winamp it does follow the balance I set but winamp often crashes with wasapi plugin.

Any idea how I can get winyl to respect the balance I set (there doesn't seem to be balance control in the program).
 
There's 2 things I can think of but both of them aren't really a solution :p.


1) If you're having to set balance at all there's something else wrong with your audio setup that needs to be looked at.

2) I could've sworn that WASAPI output bypassed balance controls. Have you tried FOOBAR + WASAPI? Curious to know if it'll work in FOOBAR.

Find why you need to adjust the balance.
It can be as simple as a bad connection, poor leads, one speaker is closer than the other, wrong toe in on one speaker, one speaker is nearer a side wall than the other...
One speaker or the amp may be damaged.

There are some soundcards (external DACs) that will let you program the DAC directly via the sound driver, letting you use the Windows volume control etc with WASAPI without losing quality.
But it needs to be a 32bit DAC at minimum in order to maintain bit perfect up to 24bit.
It doesnt look like yours is one.
The Oppo 105 BD players USB stereo DAC driver works in the above fashion.

When using WASAPI exclusive mode, as Stanley said, all windows controls are bypassed in order to maintain bit perfect output (on most soundcards).
That is the point of WASAPI exclusive mode.

Your WASPAI setup on Winamp or the way WASAPI is used are not providing bit perfect output, this is why you still get the use of the balance control.
I've tried many times to use Winamp and WASAPI (set to exclusive mode) and it adds bass and doesnt sound as clear when compared to Foobar + WASAPI.
Thats why I use Foobar from PC or plug a hard drive directly into the BD player for purest quality.

it might be something with the op's hearing rather then an equipment issue why he needs to set the balance... or it could be the room / equipment related.

hmmm ... looking at Winyl ... i don't see where it gives you any configuration of the WASAPI output really..


with Maiko WASAPI you can disable thee volume over ride and mess with the balance and what have you ... you lose the bitperfect advantages of course but you can do it... I'm not seeing the Winyl program gives you the option.
