Using Dual Monitors and Gaming

I currently have 2 monitors hooked up to my new PC (Both Viewsonic VX2025WMs) with an nvidia geforce 7600GT.

My question is, I run my games at the monitor's native resolution (as well as everything else) which is 1680 X 1050. If I have a full screen game on my primary monitor, I can move my cursor over windows on the extended monitor just fine, but I click on anything otherwise it instantly minimizes my game. Is there a way to make a game stay full screen on the primary monitor while I can still do things on my secondary monitor (i.e. playing half life 2 and while waiting for the game to load, I change music in iTunes or something).

Thanks

Change the game to run in window mode and disable the border, that way when you click it just loses focus and doesn't minimize. That is if the game allows it. Otherwise I don't think there is an option.

That sucks. I tried that and it works somewhat, but I noticed going back and forth too much screws up some games like CS:Source. I went back and forth too much and when I'd go back into my game, it thought I was clicking on the Windows behind it so it didn't work right at all :(

I notice I have no problems running other things like movies in full screen on the primary monitor and other applications on the other monitor.

If anyone else has any suggestions that would be helpful!

I too am having problems with this.

I'd like to use my 17" LCD to control music, IRC, etc while I play a game on my 32", but everytime I move the mouse over to the smaller screen and click something, the game minimizes.

I know people do exactly what I want to do, but the question is how?

Use two computers, or run in windowed mode like was mentioned above if game supports it.
I've been gaming with dual screens for years and I just use the second screen for monitoring stuff, X-fire, mem and cpu usage, etc.

Agreed, as far as I've been able to tell the windowed mode is the only way to do it. Say good bye to your ability to turn up the brightness in source, but if you're running 2gigs of ram or more its hardly an inconvenience (in CS:S at least). If I really am trying to do work in between rounds (that would imply that I actually die...pfft), I use my laptop and toggle the input source on the second monitor
