Using an anonymous LCD screen on Win98SE... will it work well?

I have a super-old computer, which I like and want to hang on to ... for odd reasons. This computer runs Win98 SE, and I'm not even going to try putting WinXP on it. So, if I buy an LCD screen off of craigslist, like a Dell or something, and just plug it in without installing the specific drivers, will it work well?

I know in WinXP this should be pretty much no problem. But Win98 doesn't have really good native drivers, right? Now, mind you, I won't be running it at high resolution or anything. Probably 800 x 600 or maybe the next one up. The dinosaur video card in this comp only supports up to 16bit color... So would it work with just the generic "plug & play monitor" driver as well as it would if I provided the real drivers? Do I have anything to worry about?

Thanks

if its a Plug and Play compatible monitor it should Just Work[TM]. You may not have the most perfect color accuracy but it sounds like that won't matter in this case.
