using AIM on LCD like Gameoptics?

I made a 4x20 parallel LCD a while back and i've been using it with JaLCD, and am very happy with it. But lastnight i saw something on thinkgeek.com:

This USB LCD allows you to chat through AIM while gaming, and not have to leave your game. You can view the chat session through the LCD, how convienient is that? Granted, i run dual monitor...but i still have to alt-tab out of a game to respond to a message; so this LCD feature would be great for those times where i need to respond.

I know it's probably not a hardware thing, as my LCD is much better than the one offered...so, anyone know of a software that allows AIM integration into the LCDs?
 
It says it's just a Hitachi HD44780 compatible display on a USB controller. If yours is USB based, just try downloading their free driver and see if it works.

With parallel... well, you can always try, nothing to lose.
