Using a DVI to HDMI adapter

I'm really getting annoyed with these bullshit HDMI issues I've encountering, scaling problems, screen flickering, games not filling up the screen.

If I buy a DVI to HDMI adapter and hook it up with a DVI adapter will it eliminate the issues or will it produce the same results since its still using HDMI? I'm using a HDTV monitor hooked up with HDMI at the moment.

Well John, I see that in your signature it seems that you have a 32" LG correct? It seems that your HDTV is also a 16:9 1080p TV.
FYI, not all games, in fact most games run under 16:10 if I remember correctly. So perhaps that's why you are seeing gaps or not being able to fill the screen.

Regarding flickering, not sure if that's your TV or the HDMI cable. Many argue that DVI is more stable than HDMI as HDMI sometimes crap out not just because of the cable but the actual port getting overused and what not. DVI uses 'pins' so may be more durable.

I suggest you borrow a friend's DVI just in case you waste more resources to no avail...

Hope you resolve your problem :)
