I just bought my first thumb drive. Its a 1gig corsair. My question is about formating. I noticed that it has been formated from the factory in FAT. Why not FAT32? Is there any benefit to reformatting from FAT to FAT32? Or is there any benefit of one over the other?
 
Nope, no benefit really. The maximum file size for fat is 2Gib, considering that the drive is only 1gb, it shouldn't be a problem. FAT will give you maximum compatability.

Leave it like it is.

Search for "FAT" in the help program for windows if you want to know more.
