im looking for a USB fan. Ive seen the Thermaltake one and that isnt what im looking for.
Ideally what i want is a case fan that will plug into a USB port. Thanks in advance

i always thought you could run 2 USB ports in series to power it tho :O:O Wicked. Good luck.

Think about that one for a second. :p That would just short the 5V line to ground.

this is actually for my PS2. there arent any 12v or anything like that in a USB cord?
ValeX do you by any chance live in KY?

All USB has is 5VDC, ground, and the data lines. Perhaps your best bet would be to get a 5V fan and wire that up. Or open up your PS2 and see if you can get ~12VDC from anywhere.

I can't find any "12v suitable" USB wires......if you've got a 12v fan there just waiting to be hacked apart you could give the custom wiring a shot and hope 5v will be enough to get er spinnin......and no, i live in canada.....i think your best bet if you want ease of use and predictability and stability and all that would be to buy a pre-made one...i'll look online for one for ya...

Is your PS2 simply overheating? if so, you could void your warranty and open it up and clean the dust and crap out of it, get the real fan going again....if its YOU that's overheating....well, open a window?

Its neither, i pulled my PS2(slimline) apart to check it out, i dropped one of the screws under the fan so i took it out to get the screw. while doing so the fan connector ripped off the motherboard and its extremely small and i cant get it soldered back on. the stock fan is 8.5 Volts. the PS2 power supply outputs 8.5 volts so i guess everything runs on 8.5 volts inside. im gonna mod my ps2(not chip) and this gives me an excuse to do it. That and the fact that it truly does overheat with no fan. the highest ive recorded before it shuts itself off is 135 degrees F. i think im going to put a lexan window in it with some LEDs maybe and i need a cooling solution since i cant get the stock one fixed. i guess i need to find a 70mm or smaller 5v fan. once i find a fan that will work ill start a worklog. :)

Um... The Thermaltake one IS a case fan. Trust me, I have one right inrount of me. All they did was take a 5V case fan, put a few accessoryes on it, and sell it as a USB fan.

I found that the fan i need is the Thermaltake Mobilefan II+. I cant find it anywhere nor on ebay. it seems they are discontinued. Anyone know of a place that i can get one of these? TIA
