Hi there i just bought a WD 2TB external drive. I have a USB 3 motherboard and the cable is in the right input. I'm transfering my hard drive over to the external and its only going at 50 megs a second. I thought USB 3 was suppose to top out at around 100 megs. Did i buy into false advertising or am i doing something wrong? I should also mention I made a FAT 32 partition worth 80 gigs to back up my PS3, so maybe thats a factor.
Thank you

Are you transferring only large files > several MB?

I mean if you have millions of small files do not expect fast transfers from any hard drive. But with a few large files you should be able to transfer as fast as you can read and write. USB3 has a theoretical speed limit of around 500 MB/s which is way more than any mechanical disk can transfer at anyways.
