USB 2.0 Troubles

Hi all. I'm having difficulty with my Giga-Byte GA-SINXP1394 mother board and it's built in SiS 7001 USB controllers. I get the drivers on just fine, and Device Manager states it's working ok. I have 2 USB Hubs (a Stratitec and a GE) and when plugged in they will try to recognize and then become a Unknown Device. I can only assume that this is a software problem as I was using the Stratitec hub before successfully. I'm not sure if there was an update to XP that messed with it, or if there is something wrong with the 2.0 controller. Other devices seem to work fine in the port, so I'm hesitant to say it's fried. Anyone have any suggestions or answers? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Silly question, have you updated to SP1? Windows XP doesn't have USB 2.0 support built in. You need to download SP1, and install it to get full support.

Check under your USB Heading in Device Manager. If you don't see Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controler you don't have USB 2.0 support installed.

Download SP1 and you should be OK.

Yup, SP1 is installed. I forgot to mention it. Still having problems even with SP1.

Have you tried reinstalling the USB2 driver that came on your driver disk?

I've dumped the OS and re-installed twice and tried drivers from the original disk, and from driverguide.com. I guess that I'm going to have to put a PCI 2.0 adapter in and use that for high speed. Oh well. I was hoping someone else had been through this and had a solution. Thanks for the help guys.
