I'm a huge fan of Lian Li's, but from what I understand, the passive cooling/heatpipe designs being used on a lot of new motherboards don't function too well when the motherboard is installed upside down. I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this. Assuming that the heatpipes don't function that well upside down, why wouldn't Lian Li offer any of their high end cases with the normal mobo orientation?
 
I think it might depend on the motherboard and the heatpipe tech they used. If I am wrong someone please correct me, but I believe some heatpipes will have a wick in them to transfer the fluid back to the bottom, so it doesnt rely on gravity to do its work.

Might want to ask the manufacturer of the motherboard you have or are looking at if an inverted stance will fuq shit up.
 
Khanable got it right. It's been tested, and the "upside down" mobo was only 1-2 degress warmer.
