Well I just seriously edited this post. Got no responses to the first one and it may have been that my questions made no sense.
Have never owned a UPS so am trying to get up to speed. Had no idea that all of the plugs on them are surge protected. Did a bit a looking on my own so let me try some questions again.
Whats the best way to determine the power requirements you need? Would need to protect the comp and 24 inch monitor with battery backup.
Is it true that the larger VA and watts you have the longer the battery will last if the power goes out? If not what does 1500 / 865 give you that 1000 / 500 doesn't?
Am gathering that APC and Tripplite are the good ones and have been looking at them. But are Belkins any good?
And what do you think of this little jewel on the main page of tripplite. The new digital one.

Any education anyone can give me on these things would be helpful.
