I am in the market to getting a USP for my file server and routers.

Only thing is... i don't know too much about them...
I have installed/configured them (non rack).

But, i don't know much about buying... should i get a used one and just by new bats?
what are the good brands.... i see APC everywhere... It won't be running much..

just 1 rack server with 8 drives two routers and two switches and a modem, and then down the road a 1u server so i can get my firewall out of my file server....

I don't really want to spend more then 160.... (But i will it it's a good deal...)

These are the two ive found...

($132)

($113)

I also checked the FS section but didn't see anything unless i missed something..

Make sure it is compatible with your PSU - if your PSU has APFC then you need a UPS with pure sine wave output

Thanks, my server runs the CORSAIR 550W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...Froogle-_-Power+Supplies-_-Corsair-_-17139004

I did a search, and it didn't mention anything about APFC... (Unless newegg isn't detailed enough..)

But i would assume, you would ALWAYS want a pure sin wave... (right?) no?

EDIT:
I just started reading

EDIT II: (More research)

The Liebert would definitely be the better choice out of those two. Most PSUs don't require a pure sine wave input to work properly. However, a few designs do. Generally speaking, most electronics aren't too sensitive to the shape of the input waveform, so having a true sine wave UPS is not critical. The Liebert model is an online UPS, which basically means it creates its own output waveform to be delivered to the devices attached to it. I don't think it explicitly says so on the product page, but it should have a true sine wave output.

Hey, thanks for the info. I canceled my order for the APC....

My only hesitation in it all is the company... Granted like i said, i don't know too much when it comes to UPSs, but ive never heard of Liebert. (But i could be wrong...)

Also, anything you can recommend in terms of a UPS (sub 200$)

Thanks again!

EDIT:
Have any of you dealt with RefurbUPS.com? (any comments..)

Liebert UPSes are excellent, but they are usually used in higher-end applications and don't have much presence in the consumer market. That's probably why you aren't familiar with them.

That's a little overkill, but it's a good UPS and should do nicely.

Well the server i have now has 8 drives in it, (File server/firewall) and i plan to add another server a few months down the road to pull my firewall out of my fileserver.

So it leaves room for growth... (Which i think saves $ in the long run.)

Right now my current server pulls about 500 watts... So, add another server and routers and switches...
