I have an older q6600 and a 3 year old p35 mobo will it support an ssd drive? I was looking at the crucial m4, will it work at full speed with my setup?
 
Your board come with SATA II only,
Not at full speed , you'll need intel native SATA III controller in motherboard like P67 or Z68 to get full speed
