I am looking at either going with the 6700K or the 5820K. I do mostly gaming and am having a hard time deciding. I understand the 5820K has older architecture but the 2 extra cores may be useful down the road as well as quad channel DDR4 and the extra PCIE lanes. I do not plan on upgrading for quite a while after this so I'd like it to last at least 1 1/2 years. Any help is greatly appreciated as my time is running out. I have a buyer for my current setup so I need to chose. Thanks for all your help.

for pure gaming go 6700k, 5820k is not a bad choice either though.

Both will last many years, quad channel is not going to help you with gaming.

6700k will be faster at single threaded apps and is faster stock.

Price it out and see which is cheaper, the good x99(5820K) tend to be very expensive
