Hey once again Hardforum!
I'm really torn. Sadly, I was able to fix my TI4200, and now my hopes of an upgrade are shot. So now, I am back to my mediocre DX8 card which scored but 1,500 in 3dMARK03 and 9,700 in 3dMARK01. I see most of my buddies grabbing 9800 Pros and some even X800 Pros. I feel like I'm getting left behind. Which is why I've come to you guys. What can I do to convince my parents to let me upgrade to a 6800 Vanilla? I just got my TI in February and I'm regretting doing so. I want performance. What can I dso to convince them to let me upgrade?

Thanks so much.

Threaten to eat the dog if they don't comply! Or honestly... beg, or get a job and save.

We all did the 3rd one :)

Just be Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, curtious, kind, obediant, cheeful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Oh and clean the friggin room and stop talking back and stop acting like I no nothing and you no everthing and........sorry I thought you were my child unit.
Just be nice! and ask nice all the time!

Thanks guys, but unfortunately, I can't get a job (only 15) and I'm NOT interested in a paper route...looks like I'll be getting 13k aqmarks for a while....

Lots of people around here get jobs when they are 15... also you could try to find someone to sucker into buying your current video card for almost the amount of money it'll take to buy a 9800 or whatever it is you want. :D (and if you have any spare parts lieing around, build a shitty system and sell it to someone for office work for a few hundred bucks, hehe)

Make a deal with your folks! Ask them to pay for half the price of the card if you can come up with the other half. Offer to do all kinds of work around the house (…and actually do a good job!). Ask your neighbors if they have any work and explain why you need the money. The word will get back to your folks that you’re serious about this and they’ll appreciate your eagerness, responsibility and initiative. Welcome to the world of adulthood!

Failing that, through a temper tantrum until they give in.

its not impossible, i've had a job since I was 15 (insurance agency), and before that i did petsitting around my neighborhood, that paid nicely :p, i did advertising around and also did some babysitting for awhile...or you could sell junk you dont want

I started working when I was 13. Summer job washing dishes, made about $3000 over the summer. That would buy a decent gaming rig.

People are always looking for summer help. Yeah it might be mowing lawns/landscaping or kitchen work.... so what.

Look at it this way, a minimum wage job would net over $200 per week. In a couple weeks you would have enough for a 6800GT or x800 Pro. Not bad.
