I desperately need to upgrade my gpu on sig rig. I would like to keep the price as close to $100 as possible but can spend a little more, tax and shipping to AZ included. I know that's kind of cheap but my 550Ti is crapping out on me.

Thanks in advance.

Apparently your card still sell for 115$ new on newegg, so you would have to redefine "upgrade"

What I mean is that the 640's and the 7750's are about $100 now, and the 550Ti's have been out of stock for a while now.

Used 5870 would get my vote. Solidly more powerful than your current card, and can be had for your budget pretty easily with a bit of shopping.

Well.. First, the GTX 550TI its a much better card than the GT 640.

Second, the GTX550TI its paired with a 7750 and in several case its better card. So, if you wanna change your card to something superior you should move to the 200's$.. Keeping in the 100s will just be a downgrade.

If you don't mind getting a used card, PM JCNiest5 here on [H] and ask him about his GTX 470. You're welcome. ;)

I'll sell you an HD 5850 for 130 shipped. It will be better than your 550Ti was. Only caveat, I can't get rid of it until my 7850 shows up, which should be Wednesday.

Thanks guys, I didn't realize that my card was still that good. I will check into getting one of the 5850's.

Sorry for the snarky remark remark yesterday, sometimes I forget that I am the one that doesn't know much about computer hardware.

I regret selling my 5850's, even though they were horrible in Xfire, they were great quality GPU's.

OP, do not do this. you can buy a brand new 650 ti for same price or cheaper that's just as fast and will use literally half the power.

newegg had a 560SE for $75 with free shipping which is an upgrade as they can clock up to 560GTX speed. i just picked one up myself for a build to sell.

nearly every card out there can be oced to a level of a card right above it cause the gaps are small with so many models. that 560SE would have to be pushed pretty hard though. I had an EVGA 560SE and I would have had to add voltage to make it match the 560 in all cases. thats because you cant oc enough in every case to make up for the slower memory bus. for 75 bucks its a decent card though.

yeah.. in fact for 138$ or less in a microcenter can find a ASUS GTX 650TI..

You aren't going to be able to upgrade for $100. See if you can save an extra $50 or so and go for a 7850.
