I'm planning on upgrading soon.
Here's my part list

Motherboard: NF7-S v2 ($91.99)
CPU: AthlonXP Barton 2500+ 333MHz OEM ($85)
Heatsink/Fan: ThermalTake Volcano 7+ ($17.99)

Total: $194.98

Think I should change anything ?
I'm also going to be getting some new ram a little after I upgrade (My ram will do fine for now). What do you recommend ?

Thanks :D

I would get a different heatsink and fan. Ither a Thermalright heatsink and fan or a zalman 7000 Al-Cu heatsink/fan combo.

For RAM buy ither from Mushkin or Corsair.

Yeah, go with a Thermalright SLK-900A or a thermalright SLK-947U with a zalman fan combo, they have the best CFM to noise combination.

get a retail processor 3 year warranty and back up heatsink :) $5 more

That's $5 dollars that I could have spent on something else though. I don't plan on using the proc more than 1.5 years anyways.

By then I should have a job and enough money to upgrade to AMD64 with BTX,PCI-E, NV40>. :)

I'll look into the other heat sinks too, thanks :D

On the memory, what kind of Mushkin or Corsair should I get ?
I've heard AMD proc really like tight timings, is this true ? Also should I get a single 512 or two 256 ? Does Dual-Channel really make much of a difference ?

dual channel makes hella difference....run 2x256 or consider 2x512 depending on what u want the comp to do...i like corsair personally....i use 2x256 corsair xms low latency in dual channel (with platinum heat spreaders to reflect the blue neon fans)....its fast, stable, and its not TOO expensive...either way definately go 2 sticks in dual channel...good luck w/ the upgrades

I'll probably go with the 256 sticks then :D

But I'm still not sure what brand of memory to go with...
