Are there any cards out in the ~$200 range that stomp the 8800GTS 512 in performance yet? I usually wait 2 generations of GPU's/CPU's to upgrade again, but I have some spare cash this year.

gtx 275 or hd 4890 will do better for $200 or less, don't know about stomping....

GTX 275 ($180 with cashback or ~$200 without)
HD 4890 (~180 with cashback ~200 without)
if you are capable of SLi
MSI deal GTX 260 SLI ($110 ea)
260 sli will stomp the 8800gts if you aren't a micro-stutter freak (a freak over the phenomenon of micro-stutter, not a micro-suttering freak :p )

Maybe you can hang on until next gen? That card is still plenty fast.

how about providing some basic info?? all of your computer specs including psu would be a nice start. your res and games that you play would also be nice to know.

This. Absolutely no point upgrading if your CPU/PSU/monitor are not up to par or if you don't even need to upgrade.

This.
I use 8800GTS too and still don't have a big enough desire to upgrade from it.

+2, if you are patient enough to wait a month or two more, even if it just to catch the price drops on current gen if next gen doesnt live up to its expectation. Im running 1080p on a single 8800GT (since one fried) and it is enough to hold me over

will def beat it hard. go with the 4890 if your into overclocking the GTX275 for folding. other then that they are pretty well a wash

the average 4890 is not a great overclocker by any means. a 4890 will typically only go to 930-940 without volt mods so thats only a 10% overclock.
