upgraded to windows 8. now i have a program running 24/7 on my task bar

sooo, i upgraded to windows 8, sunday, and now, a program, ETDctrl is always running, and cannot be closed. anyone know what this is? i have a feeling it's supposed to be a background task for the touchpad, judging by the icon.. but.. it's not going anywhere.
 
whoops. totally forgot i started this thread.

it actually is in the task bar, as if it were a program running, like chrome, or games, or anything. i've noticed, though, that it will jump around in the task bar, when i use the scroll features of the touchpad, and, it's also not there ALL the time, now.. just.. some times. very bizarre, to me.
