Is it worth it to upgrade two 4850 512mb cards in crossfire? running it with 4gb ddr3, a q6600 at 3.0, and an x48 mobo

I will probably keep the mobo/cpu til the end of its life.. is it worth it to sell the two 4850's and get a 5850 or 5870? i am running a 24" monitor at 1920x1080.. getting pretty tired to always worrying about heat output and sick of enabling crossfire in CCC after i mess with my computer (cleaning or having fun trying to overclock more, etc..)

I'm also looking at watercooling so will not get two cards for crossfire again. If anything, i would like to run only one graphics card to keep costs of liquid cooling down (since a full cover will hit around $100).. ideas?
 
in your case yes, and if your getting a single card then I would get a 5850/70. and sense your going to water OC the hell out of it. with the added frame buffer it would probably be a pretty good upgrade in quite a few games. in places that it doesn't matter its a side grade or even a downgrade. in games that don't scale with crossfire well its an upgrade regardless. there is little to no games that an OCed 5850 will not max out. a 5870 is nearly on par with GTX480 in terms of playability. at 4mp it will be awesome
 
Unless your finding that you can't play games at the settings you like, I think now is not the time to change cards. I'd wait for the ATI6xxx series or for the supposed upcoming price drops on the 5800 series. What you would be upgading to wouldn't be much of an improvement.
 
The only time to upgrade is when you can't play games the way you want.
 
So I decided to part out my computer since I've been eyeing SFF builds for quite a while now. I will part this comp out and am in process of getting a 5850 right now.. thank you for your help!

I understand the 4850's were fine, I just wanted to go SFF so the single 5850 will suit me well.
