I want to upgrade to an ATI x800xt from my ATI 8500. I have an AMD 1.4 GHZ Thunderbird CPU with 768 Mbytes of Ram with an 80Gig Western Digital Special Edition hard disk drive. Is it a waste of money to get this card because I dont have enough CPU power and if it is a waste, what would be a good match for my system.
Does anyone know a site which has decent prices for "His" Graphic cards.. I kind of like the cooling "system for this card"

An X800 XT is way to much overkill get like a Ti4800 or Ti4600 anything over that is gonna be a serious bottleneck. Can't help you on the website.

my 1.4 ghz tbird was a bottleneck for my ti4400. pc133 sux :/
i tried with my 9700 pro and it didnt help at all, so imagine how much of a waste it will be with something 2 times stronger.

Definetly upgrade your whole system, with $500 you could get real nice mobo/proc/memory.

If you want an X800XT, you should probably dish out for a new AMD 64 mobo, an AMD64 3200-3500, and 1GB of PC3200.

Then spend on the video.

Yea, I think it is smarter if you upgrade the core components, then think about the video.
