Right now I'm looking at 2 upgrade paths...either upgrade my 9700pro or my 2.3ghz tbred
I'm leaning more towards upgrading the 9700pro as i think that will give me a larger performance gain for my money than a s939 athlon64 platform. I was holding out for the 939's hoping the rumors of a large price decrease would be true. I'm torn though because this 9700pro has lasted me for over a year and a half and if I'm going to drop $600 on a new video card (x800 xt) I want the same kind of life out of it but with pci express coming out and agp being made obsolete I'd hate to be upgrade limited a year down the road because no one's making the high end boards with agp slots. Also rumors of the sli pci express video cards would be sweet if it can truely be implimented as it's been rumored from alienware.
I'd like to know what the forum denizens think would be a good path: get an agp x800 xt now and stick with agp for another 2 years or go with a pci-express enabled 939 platform now and upgrade to a pci-express x800 when they come around. I know i'm gonna pay a pretty penny for being an early adopter on either solution but I'd rather get more time for my money.
