I bought my computer 1 year ago, it came with:

Mobo: Intel D845WN
Pentium 4 2.4(A) Ghz
512 SDRam (133 mhz) :(
I just updated my Vid card to an ASUS Radeon 9600 XT.

I pretty much use this computer for games only. My question is would a new motherboard and DDR (I was thinking of getting 1 GB of DDR400) make a big difference, in speed and fps for some upcoming games like EQ2 ,WoW or HL2? I don't enjoy lagging too much. Also my current Motherboard only supports AGP 4x, would switching to a motherboard that supports AGP 8x make a difference?

I was thinking of getting this Motherboard from ASUS: P4P-8X Intel 865p, ATX 2xDDR400 ,s478, 400/533 fsb
(audio, GLAN, USB2, AGP8x, SATA )

Also I see no prob keeping my current CPU, any suggestions on that?

yep, get a new mobo and then get 1gb of ram and you are set. I'll bet that your mobo is only agp 2x or 4x, so an 8x mobo will be great for the 9600xt. your processor will be great for a quite a while, ecspecially if you overclock it (which you will be able to do with the ddr400 and the new mobo.

Get a new keyboard. It's cheap, and you'll feel like you have a whole new computer! It's worked for me all these years, and I'm getting by just good on my last "Upgrade!"

Course, it's getting hard to find those 5.25" floppy disks anymore, but hey, the keyboard is squeaky new!
 
Eh... AGP 8x offers like no improvement over AGP 4x, it's pretty much marketing from what I've heared. Only one or two FPS difference. However, you'd probably enjoy faster RAM for that system, so I say go for it. I just wouldn't take the AGP 4x to 8x upgrade as part of the picture, since it doesn't really matter.

Any suggestions on a motherboards that offers AGP 8x, ddr400 ram and 400 fsb support?

The one I'm looking at buying right now is the ASUS P4P-8X, anyone have any experiences with it?
