Upgrade or no upgrade?

I have $270 but I should end up with $300 very soon from b-day money.
I have currently a socket A 3200+, 512mb pc3200 samsung ram, antec 350watt surepower supply, 2 160gb 7200rpm HDs, and a 6800nu AGP.
I'm thinking about upgrading to 64bit.

Shold I do that now or shoudl I hold off for a bit?
I really am not ina rush as I jsut got my 3200+ in december. It was my first comp build and I got it out of a compaq. So......

Are these an impovement? Well I knwo they are but by how much. Is it worth the upgrade? Should I hold off until dual core becomes the thing or wait for better stuff to come out?
 
well..they'd be upgrades...but are they worth it? not really..your system isn't THAT obsolete yet,.i'd definitely wait
 
thats what I was thinking. plus i love this sytem its the first one i built. cept i got the 6800nu for my b-day so i was liek i dont want to replace the whole thing yet. i replaced a 9600xt which i didnt need to replae but it sure is a little bteer having anothe r50fps in CS for sniping.
 
Not worth it to upgrade, maybe another 512mb of ram would do you well, but thats about it.
 
Well if i get another 512 I'm getting some good ole pc4000 or pc3700 2x512mb of OCZ, mushkin, or crucial. somthing of that sort. But that stuff is expensive. maybe ill just get some pc3500 :-P

Maybe? No, I believe everyone should have atleast a gig these days. SO get the 512 and you'll be good.

Your CPU is cool for now, however, you should try and sell it and then do an upgrade to a64 if you really want to. ALso, a new core is comming out so the prices on the winchesters (pretty damn good core if you get something within week 40 batch) will drop.

This new venice core is going to be released in 20 mins! so excited.

Oh yea, i'd get a DFI board instead , the ultra D
