Ok well i just recieved my asus a7n8x-e dlx, barton 2500+, corsair xms 512mb pc3200LL (2-3-2-6), volcano 10+. I have it overclocked to 2.2ghz (11x 200fsb at 1.7v) and in probe it says 45 degrees celsius. i want it below 40. would upgrading to a volcano 11 or 12 make it better? is there any other great hsf's out there?

also, i wanna test this stuff, where can i find prime?
 
i dont think 45 under load is bad at all

my P4 runs at 61C under load and i think thats ok, and AMDs run hotter i thinks
 
45 C is a very good temp for an AMD proc at full load. You won't get much cooler than it is unless you want to resort to water cooling, or maybe a thermalright heatsink with fan.
 
well upgrading from stock should put you under 40, but i mean as long as your upgrading and not downgrading it will help anything ;D
 
im not on stock now. im on a volcano 10+. i was thinking of a slk900a with a vantec 80mm tornado (5700rpm). would that bring it down to about 40ish? its 48 - 50 under load (playing need for speed underground) , 43 - 44 idle and using internet explorer / wmp / foobar / trillian.
 
omg do NOT get a Vantec Tornado u will lose your hearing!!!

get the Zalman CNPS 7000A-AlCu or the ThermalTake Silent Boost both can be found around $30, these are both really good HSF's and they will cool very nicely

btw, if u do for some reason still want the Tornado, get the 92mm version...more airflow, almost same noise level
